Pregnancy Photos
Pregnancy with Will was a whirlwind. I remember being so in love with the entire process (I was one of those lucky people that skipped morning sickness and chewing gum would take care of any bits of nausea I ever had)…and I did try my darndest to document those weeks as they flew by with photos.

Excuse the awkward face making. When a camera is on me, I turn into a 15 year old girl documenting a week at cheerleading camp.
And you must know this fun nugget - I LOVE my maternity clothing. I guess it’s because it’s all so new and fancy….vs my regular wardrobe which is mostly out of the late 90′s. Plus, maternity jeans were invented by a heavenly host of angels. I’m trying to get Obama & Heidi Klum to deem elastic waist appropriate and fashionable for everyone. equal rights people!
So I thought long and hard on how I would document this new baby’s growth…and I (and Pinterest) came up with two options after a couple hours and a brief visit to boards dedicated to fingernail polish colors (HOW DO THOSE GIRL’s DO THAT WITHOUT GETTING IT ON THEIR CUTICLES!?)…
Of course, one option is inspired by my favorite little blondie baby (and Will’s baby-girlfriend) Clara….

Sherry and John used fabrics to act as a backdrop. Now don’t imagine me laying down. Nobody wants to see a 40 week pregnant Katie doing the backstroke on some chevron fabric. believe me. It’s like a beached whale having a seizure. (you can click here to see more on those fabulous Petersiks photo project)
My other inspiration came from the beautiful girls at Simply Bloom Photography.

Gorgeous, huh?! Simply Bloom is the lovechild of Christine and Vania – and let me just say, I would consider swearing off bacon (for a very limited period of time) if I ever got the chance to be photographed by these supermodels. They do amazing (!!!) work. One of the girls documented her pregnancy with a more simple background. Didn’t Christine do such a great job!?
So I couldn’t decide between the two. One more subdued, one more fun and vibrant. So for now, I’m doing both….

I just wanted you all to know that I really REALLY appreciated all of your comments and well wishes and for making me laugh outloud and snort my Cheez-its on more than one occasion. I plan on giving you all the details and a little status update and share the video of me telling Jeremy in a little bit
Speaking of babies…today is the last day for the Homies awards and my first baby – this blog – is in the finals. I’ve heard that there is always a big vote push in the end… it would be like a squeeze on my toosh if you voted Bower Power. and believe me, you wanna squeeze this toosh of mine
(click here to cast your vote!)

First, Congratulations!!! I missed reading my favorite blogs in the last week or so and just saw your video. So excited and happy for you and your family!!!
Great picture ideas – Can’t wait to see how they come together this year and I really can’t wait to see you do another nursery!!!
Sending ya a big virtual hug!!!!
HEY!! Just wanted to say congratulations on the Homies win! I was so excited to hear you won. Not that I’m surprised.
Aww thanks Skooks! It’s all because of you guys

I’m so happy for you! I just saw your video and almost cried! You’re going to make a beautiful mommy (again)!
So…I was going back to the bathroom redo to get the paint colors (Yes, that’s right. I get my paint colors directly from your blog now. I don’t even go and look. I just write down your color and go on in). Anyhoo…while ogling the bathroom and reading the story it occurs to me that we may have found the reason for the paint breakdown! Hormones!!! Lovely, sweet, bite-you-in-the-butt-so-your-husband-is-convinced-he-married-a-looney hormones!!! Or maybe painting is just frustrating, and we girls sometimes lose our crap. Either way.
Katie, I’m a new reader to your blog but I have already been so impressed and inspired by the posts that I have read! Congratulations on your pregnancy! Can’t wait to read more.
The Homie PLUS a new little baby?!?! BEST WEEK EVER! Congratulations girl!
Best Week EVER!

Love how you’re documenting. Adorable & fun!
You are adorkable! Please don’t change. I hope your beautiful babies are as awkward, amazing, and down right knee-slappin’ funny as you. Big big congrats and prayers for a healthy pregnancy and smooth-bottomed baby, are coming atcha all the way from the Lonestar State. Yeehaw!
Hi Katie,
Long-time reader from PA here! You really are an inspiration and give us hope (well, me and my stubborn uterus). You don’t know me (if you can picture that with a head roll and a snap – ha ha) but you’re blog is a ray of sunshine in my day. You have a beautiful family and I pray that your new bundle is as happy and healthy as can be! Looking forward to seeing your photo journey over the next few months.
Cheers,
Sarah A from PA
Congratulations! I’m so happy for you. I have been silently following your journey to baby #2 and I am beyond thrilled for your blessing. My husband and I have been trying for almost a year for baby #1 and we too just got the great news that we are expecting. As strange as it sounds it was a comfort to know someone else was going through the same thing (even though I don’t really know you) and you were able to give my frustration words. Not that I wanted you to be going through that of course but it helped me sift through my emotions. All that aside you mentioned you love your maternity clothes and I was wondering if you had any favorite places to pick up a few pieces. I am 11 weeks along and am starting my search and cannot find much. Congrats again – Hope you have an amazing pregnancy!!
Congrats Katie! My friend Bridget (who told me about your blog) and I were painting my living room this week and talking about you. My husband was making fun of us cause he said it sounded like you were a good friend of ours. Reading the comment about the women telling her husband joyously that “Katie Bower is pregnant!” made me laugh and wonder how many husbands think their wives have an imaginary friend named Katie Bower. Congrats on the new baby! Going from one to two is…um…a little harder than i thought it would be. I have a four month old and 2.5 yr old. It’s a good day when we are all out of pajamas before lunch!
God bless!
I love the brick backdrop from your pregnancy with Will! I’m loving both of the new ones but leaning more towards the subtle, neutral ones. I think we get to see a lot of the fun side of you on the blog it would be a change of pace to see the more subdued side.
Either way, you look great!
Emily
Congrats! Been reading for awhile now and have been praying God would answer your prayers quickly. Two questions, which I may have missed the answer to… 1.) When are you due? 2.) Where is the white tee from and is it a maternity/stretchy shirt that you will wear through the whole pregnancy or will you just get a bigger size as you get bigger?
I am due November 5th…and the white tee is just a stretchy white night shirt that will hopefully last the entire pregnancy (it did last time and I was HUGE).

congrats on your super exciting news!!
i’m new to this whole blogging thing…but yours is one that i read religiously!!!! (maybe it has something to do with the last name!!)
i simply ADORE simplybloom photography. they actually did my daughters 2yr pictures, my brother dated christine’s younger sister in high school, and christine & i were pregnant with our boys at the same time. they are amazing!!
Holy crap, Katie!! Congratulations!!!! I didn’t have a chance the other day to watch your video, and I’m obviously a little behind on my blog reads. So excited for you and the boyfriend!!
Oh my goodness, congratulations on being pregnant!!!!! I absolutely love your blog and I am thrilled for you and your family!!!!
I actually read this and thought, “whaaa? is she pregnant?” Then I went back and actually WATCHED your video (I tend to read your blog at work =X!) at home and got so teary! I am so pleased (even though we like, do not know each other) to hear of the good news! This year’s a good year, I can feel it in my uterus (which holds a baby too!)
Congratulations again and I look forward to reading about your pregnancy and LOOOVE living vicariously through you and your dream home renos! One can only dream. Australian house prices are ridiculous and no way in the world would we be able to score a house like yours for the price you paid! ALMOST makes me want to move there!
Hurray! How very exciting! I’m doing a victory cheerlerish dance for you Bower folk.
Now you can have a bacon buffet all-day, every day!
Congratulations! I am so happy for you and your family!! I personally think you should just put burlap on it and take the picture ; )
Congrats! So exciting! I missed the video! Cute pictures, too! also, guess you didn’t get to cross many things off of your pre-prego bucket list, huh?
You’re already glowing. You are adorable.
I feel you on maternity clothes. I miss mine so much. I felt so much more attractive and confident during my pregnancies and I loved having cute clothes to show off my growing bump.
Good luck with your pregnancy. I can’t wait to see Will become a big brother!
Whoa! Back up a minute! You are PREGNANT!? *Insert ridiculous squealing for joy here* I”M SO HAPPY FOR YOU!!!
(That sounds super weird…seeing as we don’t even know each other but YAY YAY YAY!!)
I love the photo idea from Simply Bloom Photography, too. I actually pinned that same photo a while back for the day it is time to have my own little ones. I can’t wait to see how yours turns out!
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!! I also missed the post on you being pregnant! Hope you got through that bucket list fast
Great, great news. And yes I read your site like it’s the news… xo from nyc! Mary
Congrats! I love your blog and am so excited for you!! I’m due November 12th
This is my first and I need to document it with weekly photos. Where did you get your dress/shirt?
Belated CONGRATULATIONS from Wisconsin!!
I know we don’t “know” each other, but I’ve been hooked on your blog since your last visit with the YHL crew (I think Will and Clara are so cute together too!) and I am beyond excited for you! I’m excited for us both really… we’re somewhat pregnancy buddies! I’m 8 weeks now with #2 as well, so we get to go through this “together”.
Congrats again and have fun documenting the weeks flying by. We all look forward to “meeting” the newest little Bower!
OK! So I usually read your blog while I’m at work (first thing after the computer gets switched on!) and I skipped the video blog because my manager was floating around. I didn’t get back to watching it and then I read this post!!!!! I COMPLETELY MISSED THE BABY ANNOUNCEMENT!!!! AWESOME NEWS! Every time I was waiting for your blog to load I was praying there’d be a baby announcement!
Congratulations to you Katie, Jer & Will.
SO happy for you.
I like the vibrant one! I started to do monthly photos like YHL for my new baby boy who is . I loveeeeeeeeee the idea!
Oh my word, I broke out in a smile at your news! Hugs Hugs Hugs
Oh my goodness, you stinker! You hid the announcement in a video that wouldn’t load on my phone so I had no idea about your “occupied uterus” until I saw this post!!! WOW! Congratulations! I am seriously smiling so big for you guys right now!
I’ve been a long time reader but seldom comment since I read using an RSS app on my phone! <3 Congratulations! Cannot wait to follow along with you & your precious family!
So cute! I actually am in love with your 15 year old silliness from last time… I think I may borrow that idea for this go around! Love love love the little personality!!!
Katie, I just watched your video. I cried the whole way through it, you are have such a beautiful and generous spirit and I am so incredibly happy for you. That wait for a baby can be such a challenge, especially when you already have one child and you know you can do it!
I have just found out that I’m pregnant (5 weeks today!) with my second child this week. My little guy Max is a couple of months older than Will. We’ve been trying forever and to see those two blue lines made me laugh and cry at the same time.
I’m feeling every emotion right along with you and like I said above I am so so so incredibly happy for you. xxoo
CONGRATULATIONS!!! So excited for you and your beautiful family! Can’t wait to watch your sweet belly grow!!!
YAY!! I’m so happy for you and your baby news!!! We found out at the end of January that we’re expecting our first, and I couldn’t be more excited!!
I posted our announcement photo over on my blog: http://pinthere-donethat.com/2012/03/26/1-1/
Can’t wait to see your growing bump!
Hey Katie! This is my first comment here but I absolutely love your blog and am so happy for your new baby news! I’ve been wondering how you add captions to your photos on the blog. Do you use Photoshop? On your pregnancy progress pictures of two side by side with text, how did you do those?
Yup – it’s all photoshop
