My day just got Better

2012 May 21
by Katie

Oh it’s that time again girls.  Every once in a blue harvest wolf-howling moon, we get the BHG magazine on big-time-bootie-dance-it’s-so-good sale…and I just ordered my subscription to renew AGAIN.

I always let you guys know when I whip out my debit card to renew – and right now they have subscriptions for $6.

I spend more than that on bubbles each month people!  I wish I was kidding.  The kid really likes his bubbles.  BHG is one of my all-time favorite magazines….and they make great gifts too – hello teacher-gifts or sunday-school-leader-gifts or Christmas-in-May-gifts or a thank-you-for-picking-up-my-mail-while-I-was-on-vacation-gift!

Here is the link if you wanna order too:

Better Homes and Gardens (1-year)

Happy Bettering those Homes and Gardens!

Gotta love magazine deals! I used to shy away from subscribing to magazines, having a hard time justifying the cost, but lately it seems there are plenty of good deals out there!

Sweet! Thanks for the heads up. I almost never do magazine subscriptions except for Southern Living, but $6 is too good to pass up – just ordered. Normally we get magazines from the library, but they charge $1 a day in late fees so this should pay for itself pretty quickly :-) .

BH&G is my ABSOLUTELY FAVORITE magazine. My subscription is already renewed until 2016! Now I am trying to think for whom I might buy a new subscription.

I enjoy reading your blog–even if I am probably older than your mom. ; )

    Happy days with many blessings!

This has nothing to do with better homes and gardens…although I do love when I see it in my mailbox…I’m watching the bachelorette and this guy on there named Doug reminds me of your husband. I am wondering if I’m the only person who thinks that. Lol

    • May 22, 2012

haha…we think Doug looks like an MMA fighter. We started sweating for Kerran (helicopter dude) when Doug got mad…we were all like – oh dude, you are gonna get a muscle in your eye!

haha…we think Chris isn’t made for tv…like somehow the cameras make him look creepy. We even looked up his profile online to see how he really looked because we just didn’t get it when Emily said he was ridiculously goodlooking.

I don’t know if you’ve tried out Recyclebank yet, Katie, but I get all my magazine subscriptions from them. You do a couple of quizzes, watch a few videos, and BAM! free Good Housekeeping and Better Homes and Gardens(it’s a strange subscription group for a 24 year old living with her parents, but I’m okay with that!). It’s all really green living oriented, which is awesome, so I thought I’d share!

I get mine for “free” through coke reward points. My family saves up all of their bottle tops, or 12 pack corners with the codes and then I input them into the coke rewards site.

I haven’t paid for subscriptions to ANY of the magazines I receive like: BHG, Bon Appetite, Country Living, This Old House… (they have a pretty good selection of magazines to choose from!)

But if you don’t know anyone that drinks coke products, then I’d say $6 can’t be beat!

Hey, Katie – you should check out some recipes for homemade bubble solutions online – super easy and cheap (we have daily bubble fest with our 2 year old and he seems to get as much solution on himself and the grass as he does on the wand!).

Being the cheapy that I am I figured i’d share- I always scan over the Hip2Save website and she does all the legwork for finding the latest and greatest on free/super-great-deals on subscription magazines and posts daily on her site. I have picked up quite a few subscriptions for zero dollars!! Figured you might want to check it out sometime! That way it’s a few extra dollars saved for bacon at the grocery store! :)

Katie- Thanks for the heads up!

Also, in my year as a nanny I picked up a great bubble recipe:
    1/4c joy dishwashing liquid
    2c water
1tablespoon light corn syrup (like karo)
