October Giveaway – Encore Countertops
On Friday I showed y’all how my dear ole Mommy Dearest transformed her tiny basement kitchen with the help of a countertop makeover….

She took the space from sporting beige laminate…

to a high contrast black countertop. Now they look more like a shiny concrete slab and are scratch resistant. She could totally have Edward Scissorhands over no problem! And Mom – just so you know, if Johnny Depp shows up at your house, I expect a call pronto because dude, I gotta see if those teeth are real. They make me feel better about my own gold cap. I wish I was joking.

But the best part of showing you this makeover is the fact that you can do the same thing in your own space. This would be awesome for anyone that needs a bathroom or kitchen countertop makeover (and a heck of a lot easier than pouring your own fabulous concrete countertops in molds and messing with rebar)….

Here’s what’s up for grabs:

I’d want one of those menu boards like in the Jetsons
Either that or a double fridge…because dang, our bacon takes up too much room. - PRIZE SHIPS : United States and Canada

p.s. The expert design team over at Encore provided a few tips & tricks….here they are if you are planning on tackling your own countertops:
- On bull-nose edges, use a chip brush to paint the SuperBond™ and color mix onto the surface, then using a plastic bag (held like a rope) smooth out the product.
- Weekends are busy, if you prefer to take your time to complete your Encore countertops you can. Just keep the surface clean between steps.
- For backsplashes and straight angle edges, using a flexible angled tape knife (2 ½”) helps. The tape knife will also work for finishing tight corners and small edges behind a sink.
- The Encore kit is great for refinishing tile countertops too. Coverage rates vary depending on the depth of the grout and how much fill is needed.

Encore! Encore! I feel the need to mention that I am not the same Chelsea that commented immediately before me! Funny stuff, I don’t run into people with my name spelled exactly the same very often. My dream kitchen would have a pantry (yep, our house came without one…) different counter tops and a dramatic backsplash. Right now we will have to do with our current one!

I have a teeeeeeeny tiny NYC kitchen that drives me crazy! But the 70s color scheme and dark green (chipping) laminate tiles make me really want to pull my hair out. This would seriously help improve the look and maybe even spurr me to keep going with some redecorating!
Encore! Encore!
Encore Encore! I’d love to gut the whole thing and start from scratch….I’d love a hidden pantry, breakfast nook…the works!
Encore! Encore! I would like a rustic kitchen!
Encore! Encore!
My dream kitchen would be self-cleaning
Double ovens would have me standing for an Encore! Encore!
Encore! Encore! My dream kitchen would have a turquoise subway tile back splash, dishwasher (we don’t have one right now), dark new countertops (ours currently are a pukish beige color), a deep stainless steel sink, and a butcher block.
”Encore! Encore!” I would love warm wood cabinets
Encore encore! My dream kitchen wld be much larger than the current one! A pantry, a double oven, and a double dishwasher would be on my wish list.
Encore! Encore! Would love to update our 80s countertops!
Encore! Encore!
I hate my countertops, but we are planning on moving next year so I don’t want to sink a ton of money into them.
My dream kitchen would have a butler kitchen, deep farm sink, and a dual fuel stove with gas burners but electric oven. White uppers and gray lower cabinets with marble counters. Swoon!
Encore! Encore!
We have mint green 90s countertops, so I would love to update them. We’re saving for granite, but it will be a while because the mint green is also on the floors and backsplash – lots of re-vamping needed in that space!
Encore! Encore!
Encore! Encore! Right now, I would just be happy with a layout that works better than what I am stuck with now. We are currently saving up for a kitchen reno…can’t wait!
Encore! Encore!
A pantry and space to congregate sound dreamy!
”Encore! Encore!” Hmmmmm…..my dream kitchen would have white cabinets, gray counters, blue/gray backsplash. Double oven, huge pantry, with fantastic faucets and hardware. I’m not doing it justice, but trust me that the picture in my head is gorgeous.
ENCORE! ENCORE!
I’m thinking for our current kitchen we need to get rid of our STAINED WHITE laminate counter tops. I don’t want to put in too much money for a renovation so painting them would be a great option for us. As for the cabinets… I would love to tear them down and burn them (or donate them) but I am at a loss for a low cost renovation.
Encore! Encore! We’re getting ready to do some inexpensive updates to our dingy kitchen to get us through until we can do a full remodel. Encore sounds like the perfect fix for our stained laminate countertops. My dream kitchen is a comfortable and cozy farmhouse style–hardwood floors, dark countertops, white cabinets, lots of beadboard, bin pulls, and a farmhouse sink!
Encore! Encore! My dream kitchen would have a backsplash…any kind or color! New countertops wouldn’t hurt either!
Encore! Encore! My kitchen needs so much work and this would be a great start!
encore encore!!
Our new house came with the worst kitchen ever…. wish i had realized howbad it really was before we bought it. some new countertopping would help with the aesthetic at least!
“Encore! Encore!”
Our rental kitchen definitely needs a face lift! Told my husband about what you did and he almost was excited about trying it out. But for free…. he would totally tackle this project.
