Our Stuff

You guys asked for the dirty details on everything we owned.  So here are some of the most popular asked about items that we actually own, use and LOVE!  It’s like online shopping…but with a big Bower thumbs up ahead of time :)

To answer all your questions – YES, we own everything listed here.  YES, we recommend everything listed here.  YES, it is unfortunate that some of these items are no longer available.  And YES, we try to add stuff here as we add it to our stash…so come back soon for updates.

    Hi Katie!

    Do you recommend a tripod?

    • June 25, 2011

      I have a tripod but I can’t say I recommend it.
Once I get a good one, I’ll definitely list it here!

Thanks for listing your types of camera lens. I’m in the market for some new ones, along with a new Canon and of course, PhotoShop! Once I get my new job’s first paycheck, that is. :)

Do you recommend any particular external flash? I have a Nikon, I wonder if I’ll get more even light with a meatier external flash but they are all pretty pricey.

    • June 27, 2011

I don’t own one yet so I don’t have any recommendations.
I always tell peeps that I would experiment with your Nikon in natural lighting – master getting proper exposure before splurging on new equipment…that way you know exactly what you need!

Hi Katie! I just think you’re awesome. If I lived anywhere near you, I would absolutely love to have you photograph our little 6 month old. BUT, we are in Cali and likely not headed your way anytime soon. I have to ask you this…what setting do you use to capture clear shots of Will without movement? I’m playing around with manual settings, but sometimes I need to capture “the look” and they are often disappointing! Please help!

Hi Katie! Love your site and especially the baby stuff. I have an almost 9 month old baby boy myself – our first – and motherhood is challenging, but also fun! Thanks for this page – it’s helpful to see what toys I might consider. I also have a ton of photos of my son already, definitely not as professional as pics you post here, but I’m still snapping away. Your photos have inspired me to try out the “nifty-fifty” lense. Wish me luck!

BTW, what’s the font that you’re using here on your headings? super cute!

Hi Katie-I’m in the market for a new lens. I have the 50 mm 1.8 already. Which of yours are you using for your potrait work? Your photos are wonderful!

Hey Katie! I am in love with Will’s wall art ‘Owl love you forever’ print. Can you tell me about it. Did you make it? Buy it? How can I get my pretty little mitts on one?!

    Thanks! Love your blog! xo

I made it and you can get a copy – just email me and I’ll email you it back :)

    Hi Katie,

I love your blog! I’m a mommy to an almost 1 year old boy and was wondering if you can recommend any good toys for his first birthday gift. From reading your blog, he and Will seem very similar. There are so many things out there it’s hard to know what will get the most bang for our bucks.

    Thank you!! Melissa

What lenses do you use with your camera? It would be great if you added it to this page.

Good idea! I never thought of that because it’s on the photography part…but anyhoo – they are the 50mm 1.4 and the 24-75mm…happy shooting!

Just a note to say the bike seat is a great idea. I had one that mounted on the back and this is such a great improvement. Maybe have to buy one for the grand magnificents.

Hi Katie! I found your blog via Sherry’s (absolutely addicted to her posts) and I’m now a fan of yours too! Quick question: the white floating shelf bottle racks in the dining room – where’d you find those gems??

    • October 28, 2011

Those were from Pottery Barn outlet ages ago – maybe try ebay if you are looking for some!

    Hey Katie-
Beautiful house! Great blog! Cute kid! (:

Where did you get the bedding from your guest room? I’ve been looking all over for something similar.

    • November 3, 2011

Our bedding in the guest room (the white with the brown stripe details) is from TJMaxx…it’s called Hotel Collection :)

Just stumbled across your blog on kojodesigns. I thought I recognized your face and after checking out your site I was right…I thought you were a Bryan Lion…ha, ha. Your blog is really cool and your little boy is precious.

Hey. I’m new to your site and as usual was stalking it a little bit. Woops sorry hehe
Anyways I came to see the stuff you own to get an idea of where I could get similar things but found the page empty. Now I don’t know if this is just a me problem but I figured if theres something down on your site then you’d like to know.
The headings are there ie: Baby Stuff, Boy Stuff etc, but is there suppose to be a list under them? Or I’m I suppose to be able to click on each heading (because I can’t lol) Or maybe you just got rid of this section.
Anyways I didn’t want to be bothering or anything, just a heads up in case you need to fix anything or maybe it’s just happening here…
Also….I love your photos and I’m learning a lot with them. Thanks so much :)

    • December 2, 2011

hmmm….I have some photos that won’t show up…don’t really know why but there are definitely photos under each one :) Maybe it was a firewall blocking them?

Love your blog! and really enjoy you sharing all of your family photos. Quick question – where did you get the two white ottomans with the green piping in the living room?

    Thanks!!

    • December 25, 2011

Pottery Barn outlet! They actually came with different covers – all white – but then a few years later I saw the same cube ottoman covers on sale with green touches and for under ten bucks a pop – so I snagged them!

Love your blog!! And I love how you create your own artwork! I saw one of your previous posts about making artwork that you used words and phrases that were meaningful to your family and arranged them creatively on the paper and framed it…I want to try creating my own, but can’t remember when/where the post was?!? Can you point me in the right direction?? Thanks!!

    • December 26, 2011

The post was named State of the Union – and it was words – err, towns in the places that we lived.
If you punch in the post title in the search box, it should be easy to find :)

I just looked up your State of the Union post. Noticed “Cape May” was pretty prominent, is that where you are originally from? My family vacations near there!

        • February 2, 2012

We were from Jersey so we definitely visited Cape May for weekends :)

Hi! I just found your blog and I’m doing a bit of stalking…….I was just looking at the pictures of your first house and saw three large frames with wedding pictures (i think) in them. Can you tell me more about the frames you used? I just got married and I am trying to figure out how to display all of the pictures.

    Thanks so much!

    • March 5, 2012

They are actually pinboards that have frames around them. I got them at Target a while back but they still might carry something similar!

    Hi Katie!

I remember reading somewhere that you have Protect America for your home security system. I was wondering what your thoughts are regarding Protect America and if you would reccommend them. We’re also looking into ADT, so if you have any experience with them, I’d really appreciate it.

    Thanks!!!

    Hi Katie,
Love your blog. It’s part of my “morning work break” every day!
I was wondering where you got your wardrobes that you used in your “dressing room” in the first house and seem to be in your closet in your new house. I can’t seem to find the original post and I just love the storage/organization they provide!
    Thanks!

    Dear Katie,

I am currently working on a Project with a swiss based company called Clipso. They are basically experts in stretch ceilings and wall coverings. (I am unsure if you know what it consists in? http://www.clipso.com) They are entering the US market with my help. I saw you were the best home blog so was just curious if you think people would like to use it in their residences? I am just trying to understand if we could target the luxury residence market.
Thank you in advance for your help.
    Have a great day
