I just had to share that it was the unrelenting thought of bacon (reading recipes that contained bacon and day dreaming about it for days) that broke my 11 years of vegitarianism. It was the first food I tried when re-introducing meat back into my diet and boy was it tasty!

Katie, I just started reading your blog and I love it! You’re hysterical. And by the way, I thought you might be interested: this past summer at the WI state fair they were serving chocolate covered bacon on a stick. That’s right, on a STICK! And it was slightly delicious and slightly confusing. Like crunchy chocolate with a fatty, bacon-y after taste. Mmm.

Welcome Amanda – and promise me that next summer you will send me some of that choco-bacon-on-a-stick….your description had my head spinnin!

      Brickstory,

Honestly I am honored to be thought of when bacon is mentioned. It makes my porky heart smile :) I’m off to check that gift guide right now. Which leads me to my next question – how come Martha doesn’t have an entire section dedicated to bacon? Hmmm….something to think about.

have you tried…PIG CANDY???? Easy – thick sliced bacon coated with brown sugar, black pepper, and a bit of cayenne pepper (optional). Bake on rack set inside another pan at 375* for about 15 minutes. Gobble down before anyone else tries to get any!

Katie! You may already know this, but I just heard on the radio that pregnant moms are supposed to eat bacon because there is a nutrient in it called choline that helps improve the baby’s intelligence. Here’s the link, enjoy!

    Katie -
I was reading the recent issue of “Taste of Home” and came across a section called “Bacon Boom”. I immediately thought of you! Here are the some of the recipes they listed: bacon potato waffles, bacon scones, bacon baklava, and a bacon blue cheese appetizer. But here is what REALLY caught my eye: chocolate-covered bacon. They had a pic of bacon slices on skewers, dipped in different kinds of chocolate, with fun toppings on them. (Imagine a chocolate dipped banana – very similar concept!) I thought you might want to check it out (www.tasteofhome.com). They might have pics online! Enjoy :)

I am a bacon lover as well. My girlfriend reads your blog and told me about your love for bacon too. When we were in Solomon’s Island, Maryland, we found a local diner called The Frying Pan that serves bacon pancakes!! Small pieces of bacon enveloped inside fluffy pancakes cooked with a little bacon grease ( or flavor sauce, as by brother-in-law calls it ) smothered with maple syrup created a memorable breakfast treat!

Wow Kevin…that sounds divine. Seriously. I need to go google a recipe for that pronto!
