Hey guys. I am practicing making moodboards. I know. I’m so cool it hurts sometimes. But seriously…I am practicing making moodboards (this one is not-so-cleverly named Moody Bedroom) because I know that there is a real art to them and I heard on one of my favorite podcasts – Chris Loves Julia with Preston Pugmire – that the way Julia designs a room is that she always creates a moodboard and sticks to it. Since I am like a flopping fish on the side of a boat dock when it comes to finishing rooms, I thought that this would be a good exercise for me. Kinda like how a swimmer might practice flip turns….doesn’t mean that they will become a faster swimmer but it can’t hurt!
Also, I thought that maybe I could share these with you too….because I know some people out there have NO interest in moodboard making….or flip turns for that matter….but they do like home decor. I’m calling this series….The Moodboard Files…catchy isn’t it 🙂
This first one is made with the intent to create a masculine and moody room – high contrast and varied metals. Most of all, it’s got some really affordable pieces too…so of course, that makes me happy. 🙂 All the items below are linked to their site so if you want more details – please don’t ask me, I just liked it because it looked pretty. I’m seriously contemplating a concept like this for our master bedroom….maybe a few tweaks – like bigger bed side tables….but in general, I like this vibe. Here is the full list…
Oh and if you are wanting a moodboard that I could practice – leave me a comment with the description (i.e. Hunter Green Kitchen or Pink & Blue Nursery)….maybe I will try my hand at it!
