This is weird but I like glueing things to walls.  In college I would take hershey kisses and other wrapped candy and hot glue it to my dorm wall for a quick snack.

I also had Abercrombie & Fitch bags glued to the wall….do you remember those?…they were half dressed hot young couples playing football with their jeans unbuttoned and their wavy coiffed hair blowing in the wind….both the sweets and the eye candy were super practical and sophisticated.  #maturity

So it comes as no surprise that my younger years are haunting me with this post because I am back at my college day tricks.  Old habits die hard I guess.  And it all has to do with this wall…

It was looking so very plain and I didn’t know what I could do to spice things up in the nursery.  And then it hit me – the crib sheets have little stars and one of the boys favorite songs is twinkle twinkle….so maybe I should just continue the bedtime/sleeping juju and put up more stars.

I hand drew some on a scrap piece of 1/4″ plywood in two different sizes and they were all just very organic and irregular and fun…

I used my jigsaw to cut them out and sadly I didn’t get a selfie of me doing it….safety first people!

After they were all cut out, I sanded down the edges and the front sides….(ok, I did the first five and then my hand was permanently in a claw so I asked Jeremy to do the rest.  Thanks babe!)

And then just used hot glue to attach them to the wall above the mirror in a spray like pattern…

At first I thought I might leave them as they were in their natural wood state….but then I saw them at night and changed my mind.

The stars definitely needed to be white!  Aren’t they so cute?!  I painted them with regular white craft paint and since they were so thin, just left the edges.

I love how they cast a tiny little shadow on the wall at night and really have a 3D feel even though they are still only 1/4″ thick.  It’s an effect I wouldn’t be able to get with vinyl decals 🙂

And during the day they are equally as cute.

Even though this room has super tall ceilings (it actually is the tallest ceilings in any of our bedrooms), it doesn’t feel awkward now that the spray of stars are in play.

Not too shabby for scrap wood, white craft paint and a little hot glue!

And I know what all of you are thinking….THAT FAN!  I know.  I MEAN.  So I gotta brag a little bit….those tripod fans run like $250….and I DIYed that one.  I can not wait to share the tutorial!  It’s not the hardest DIY ever but it’s definitely not the easiest but it’s so worth the time!  So be on the look out for that one in the near future and I think that after I change up some of the framed art – this room is a wrap and I will get to share the final reveal!  Won’t that be the best day ever?!  Almost as tasty as chocolate and abercrombie 🙂
