Hey FriYAY!
It’s a holiday and extra long weekend and I personally can’t wait to see our littlest ones decked out in red white and blue! We are having a family weekend with some serious Pedraza Project work getting done. I’m getting super excited to get to the fun stuff…and past the drywall work. Nobody likes drywall work. Nobody. It’s a fact. If you like finishing drywall, you should be thrown in a psych ward because you need your head checked. #kiddingnotkidding
So while I am doing all that, I went through my phone photos again to see what other little updates I did in the nursery that I could share with you. Most of these are from texts between me and Sherry Petersik. Usually followed with lots of emojis. And inappropriate jokes. I’ll spare you the commentary.
So I was really thrown about what to hang above the cribs. I needed something that reflected them sharing the room or them as individuals (kinda like I did with the Brave letter art) and I didn’t want to spend hundreds of dollars or have something TOO big that would hang down low enough for them to grab.
I had a random visit to Hobby Lobby and low & behold, I found the mother load. Three aisles of clearanced out artwork and most of them framed, with glass or as wood plaques for a big discount. I bought all of them. Not really but it felt like that.
I bought all 7 wood plaques or framed art for $28 total! SCORE me a touchdown and call me Peyton.
The VERY best part is that Max’s first words were “I love you”. I am not even kidding. He said it three times in a row. Jeremy heard it too. I wasn’t imagining things. Although if I were, that would be my version of heaven. Yup…my littlest and my most affectionate baby said “I LOVE YOU” right to my face right before kissing me. It was amazing and I highly recommend it.
And the art is all LOVE and affection and ampersands….because get it? It’s Max’s & LJ’s room? Personal – check. Cute – check. Affordable – check. Done and maybe not done because I may change out some of the art in the future…who knows.
Another score was this lamp. It’s navy and cute and it was only $16 with the shade.
I put it on the dresser with the newly painted mirror 🙂
Lastly – the curtains. I hung about six different fabrics up to see what curtains I liked best and it was a close call with these subtle brown and white ones.
But in the end I always came back to these ikat ones. I like the pattern…I really love the colors in here….so I lined them with black out and whompwhomp – they were too short.
What’s a girl to do? Enter my stash. I had bought this fringe ages ago to make LJ a little lion pillow….but I had WAY too much – I had to buy the whole length at the discount store because sometimes they make up random rules about what you can and can not buy….so that day, they said they were having a no-cut day….therefore I had to buy the whole length of fringe. I know that sounds ridiculous but seriously….the discount fabric store is like the soup Nazi on Seinfeld….you don’t ask questions.
I used a running stitch on the bottom to put it in place and it has held up great so far. And yes, it brought me great joy to show the boys that it was like a car wash for their Matchbox collection 🙂
Overall – I love how the elements are coming together. They aren’t any one theme or thing…just a mix of things that look good together. I have a few more things I need to do in there before we do a final reveal…but it’s coming soon. It’s on my to-do list. Right after splash in pool and eat patriotic fruit salad. Hope y’all have a very safe and fun weekend!
