The day has finally arrived that I get to show you the entire garage in it’s finished glory. Words really can’t express how excited I am to show off this space. It’s so pimp it makes Snoop Dogg look like 13 year old Justin Bieber in a puppy costume. Quote me on that one 🙂 If you can remember back to the beginning of this journey, our space was very yellow, very disorganized and actually pretty dangerous.
Now it is clean and organized and everything has it’s place. I’ve actually see first hand how productive an organized space can be and it’s breathtaking!
At the beginning of the renovation, we wanted to clearly outline what we needed and wanted in this space. We need a workshop to create (so tools and access to them was vital), a beautiful area to film videos in (it’s a weird world we live in), storage for our endless supplies of DIY stuff, and a workout area for Jeremy. OH and the toys…we need to consolidate the kid items and shoes so that the kids could access them but in a safe way….no reaching past saw blades to get their sneakers.
Well I am really excited to say that we accomplished all those things! We basically created our dream workshop/gym and it blows our mind every time we go in there. Not only are we really proud of the space but we are completely humbled by it. I mean…we GET to work there. We don’t take that for granted.
So if you are new to this garage adventure, here are a few more before & afters….
So how did we get to this amazing finished space? It was quite a bit of DIY and a whole lot of organization!
Let me start at the beginning and you can click on any of the links or photos to get more details….
First we came up with a plan. A plan is always the first and most important step to any project. It’s the inspiration and can keep you motivated when things get really ugly.
Then came clearing out the garage – which didn’t get it’s own post but dude, this was a big task…
Jeremy prepped the floors for epoxy by diamond grinding off the paint….
And I fixed the cracks in the concrete with an easy epoxy kit…
Then Jeremy sprayed the ceilings and trim and we all painted the entire space. It was a huge task but we loved the final bright and light feeling.
Then came time for epoxy….which is WAY different than paint and is basically the thing we get the most compliments on….
Jeremy installed new garage door openers.…which may sound anti-climactic but these have an extension cord and a blue tooth speaker and a fan….they are the most helpful GDO ever!
And then came time to move everything back in with new storage and LOTS of organization.
Yes…this is my painting & staining cabinet and it makes me ridiculously happy just to look at 🙂
We also created a space just for Jeremy. He is an avid CrossFitter and this at-home gym is the perfect fit for our lives. Folding weight lifting and pull up rack? YES. ALWAYS YES.
We also budgeted for some over-the-top finishing touches that really take this space to wow-ville.
Overall, it came together and it is currently my favorite space in the house. Not only does it hit all the marks on function but it is also REALLY beautiful….you know, as far as garages go 🙂
