Pool Time

An entire weekend full of activities….that is what the next few posts are all about.  I figured that last time the Petersiks came to visit, we did a lot of outtings that were closer to home. (you can read about the 2011 adventures here)  So this time around, we wanted to squeeze in a few Atlanta-ish plans too.  Our list of things to do looked like this:

  • county pool
  • Zoo Atlanta
  • Atlanta Aquarium
  • time for House Crashings
  • Goodwill shopping
  • Laser show at Stone Mountain
  • local food
  • photoshoot of Petersik & Clara with Will

Not too much for three days, right?!  Famous last words.  So on Friday the plan was to take the kids to the county pool.  It should be noted that this particular pool is fairly humongous…and I warned them that there was probably gonna be a ton of other people there.  A lot of times, entire day care facilities bring their kids.  all. of. them.  So rowdy is an understatement.   Last time we were here, Will had a pudgy tummy and long hair…

Wasn’t he just so darn cute?!  If you say no, you must be having an opposite day…because the answer to that is always yes :)

This time around, we packed up a giant bag of snacks, towels, and toddler paraphenalia and got there right before the day cares decended.

Yes, that is a new bag – curtesy of Simply Bags.  It’s my new do-everything tote.  I know it sounds like an ad but seriously…love this thing.  Holds all my junk…and is holding up to the abuse wonderfully.  I totally dig their customizable wedding totes too.  Everyone needs a new summer bag.  Just my humble opinion :)

After I stopped humping my bag, we let the kiddos in the water.  It was getting hot out so it was the perfect way to chill.

My favorite part about the pool is the beach-style entry….the slope is so gradual that even the smallest walkers feel secure.  And the majority of the play area is only about 1-2 feet deep….so Will & Clara had a ton of independence to splash and wade.

How cute are girl bathing suits?!  Especially with a big floppy hat?  Cuter than a room full of baby buttcheeks.

This may be my new screen saver….

Sher and I hardly have any photos together….so we captured one in our bathing suits?!

With the kids…our totally willing and happy to be in the photo children.

Kinda reminds me of last time we had a ‘With-Kids’ photo taken….

Clara kills me.  She is so full of personality and is so darn smart.

Will liked her too.  Of course, we watch Clara videos all the time…so Will is the president of her fan-club.

It was funny because sometimes Will is a little overly affectionate.  Clara was all like “dude, my dad is watching…get your hand off my thigh”

After pool time and nap time, we gave the kids the slow crawl tractor ride.  I make Jeremy go so slow (hence the irritated face) that it only takes about five minutes to get from our garage to the back yard…but Will was totally proud to show Clara his wheels.  Note the Mr. America hand wave.

We had a late dinner at a local place called Kimbos.  John had the fried green tomato burger….welcome to the south :)

Bath time!!!  Love the little tan lines :)

I am proud to announce that there was no pooping in the tub this time.  Or major toy injuries :)

A little naked baby hugging….and mild body language that screams REJECTED.

Overall – a great full day of fun.  It makes me want a pool so bad.  I even started googling DIYing inground pools.  Then I got to the part about rocky soil and using dynamite.  I realized that my DIY boundaries stop right before the sentence “explosives can cause bodily harm, dismemberment, or death”.

Next up – THE ZOO!

I know a guy who started building a pool 7 years ago. He still hasn’t finished, but his wife regularly sends him to Home Depot to “pick up materials.”

I wish I could have met you at Haven!!! I read your blog, but never comment (I am a closet reader; gotta get an intervention for that). You are too funny and so preggy cute! Loved the pics of the kids together.

Please, PLEASE tell me where you got your adorable bathing suit. I’ve been looking all over for one like it!

Just wanted to say that I love your blog. My three year old son has cancer and we spend our time between home in Alabama and cancer treatment in NYC. No matter where we are or what we are doing, your blog always makes me laugh. Love that picture of the goat and the comments about the kids. I read John and Sherry’s blog too, and y’alls kids are so precious! Anyhow, just wanted to say I love the blog.
