What does Jeremy do for a living? I’m in college trying to decide on a degree and I’d LOVE to be able to work from home… :)

    Dear Katie

Please include the floor plans on this tour of your current house. I need it for reference on a regular basis, and I have to check the archives each time to find them…

It cracks me up how most of your rooms are “under construction” when they still look way better than most of the rooms that I have “finished” (which now Im reconsidering their status)!!

a room is never “finished” a home is always under construction and as long as you love it, thats all that matters :)

I admire you for taking your time with the house and going room by room… I always want to rush to get rooms done but then sometimes am not entirely happy with them ad redo it, thus wasting alot of time and money.
Do you have inspiration and ideas for the rest of the “untouched” house yet? or a timeline of when you would like it “done”?

    • October 30, 2011

Oh yeah. I think we are in the same boat Katie…I would love to rush and get it all done…but that fear of wasting time and money keeps me in check. I definitely have SOOO many ideas for the rest of the house (some Jer thinks are crazy and some more doable) and our timeline is not rushed. If I learned anything from my mother it is that changing your home is a life long process. And I don’t think it will ever be done :)

Love that this isn’t a flickr tour anymore! It’s great to see the progress from 35,000 feet & all the changes that have happened since you moved! I imagine if Napoleon stumbled across your blog he’d be jealous of how much better it looks! :)

I am so inspired by your blog. Your home is lovely, all the attention to detail you and your husband have given it is wonderful and also has given me so many great ideas! It looks like a house with lots of fun family years to build on. I was also very blessed by your testimony while I was reading over your wedding vows. It’s so awesome to see a young couple starting out their lives, giving God the driver seat to their marriage. You have a beautiful family and I pray God will continue to bless you and yours. I am excited to see all the changes as you continue the progress on your Dream Home! Congrats!

I love the color in your dining room. Would you mind sharing it?

    • January 26, 2012

It’s from a gallon of oops paint so I don’t have any clue! I plan on color matching it in the future, so I’ll know at some point…and then I’ll let you know :)

Hi there. Both of your homes are absolutely gorgeous!
I actually have a question for you. I have a first floor half-bath that Im redoing. The sink placement is between two walls (just like yours is). The space is an odd measurement so most of the pre-made cabinets are too big or too small. So — my question: if there is a gap (approx. 6″) on either side between the cabinet and the wall, do you think that would look weird? Should the cabinet sit almost flush with the wall? Im trying to visualize it in my head, and Im just not sure. What do you think??
Thank you so much! Keep the pictures coming :)

    • January 28, 2012

I don’t think it would look weird with a gap – ours has one and I think it looks normal. I think that the key is to make sure the gap is even on both sides and that you maximize the amount of countertop space. Maybe you could build a frame outta wood with open shelving and use butcher block and a vessel sink to create a custom sized version for not too much moolah? I don’t know how handy you guys are – but it’s not hard to do as long as you have a hammer and a jigsaw!

Hi, I really like the decor of your house! I am looking for a really large rug for our living room and I really like the blue & white striped rug you have – where is it from?

    Thanks, Crystal

    • March 10, 2012

      Hi Crystal,
I got it at the Pottery Barn outlet but it actually a William’s Sonoma rug. Perhaps there are some floating around on ebay :)

Katie – Your new house is simply gorgeous! I would love something like that to work with…that house would cost near the million mark, possibly more here in Charleston, SC! I love reading your blog…your family is so cute. I too married a preacher’s son and we have two little boys (one born Nov 2005 and one born Aug 2010). I look forward to keeping up with your renovations and design projects. Hope you can take the time to check out my blog: http://www.justhadabrightidea.blogspot.com.

So I am totally obsessed with mudrooms, and have often wondered if you had one. Since your last post mentioned you have a mudroom I think you should share! I know…. I am nosey. Also I wanted to let you know that I love reading your blog as it is apart of my daily routine! <3

    • April 5, 2012

haha…it’s not so much a mudroom right now as a room you go in from the basement to go to the bathroom. And it’s tiled. so I call it the mudroom. Eventually I’ll put a bench and some built ins and it will be legit :)
