Hi..hi,I get such a kick out of the small clusters, of sprigs of grass.I am sure that you will shower this area with tons of TLC. Lisa
What brand and color paint is in your master bedroom? I love it!
I wish I knew! One day I’ll colormatch it and you’ll get the full details!
xo – kb
It looks very similar to a color I used in our last place -Smoke by Benjamin Moore
What does Jeremy do for a living? I’m in college trying to decide on a degree and I’d LOVE to be able to work from home…
Dear Katie
Please include the floor plans on this tour of your current house. I need it for reference on a regular basis, and I have to check the archives each time to find them…
Btw: Looove your house!
Great idea…I’ll try to do that soon!

It cracks me up how most of your rooms are “under construction” when they still look way better than most of the rooms that I have “finished” (which now Im reconsidering their status)!!
a room is never “finished” a home is always under construction and as long as you love it, thats all that matters
I admire you for taking your time with the house and going room by room… I always want to rush to get rooms done but then sometimes am not entirely happy with them ad redo it, thus wasting alot of time and money.
Do you have inspiration and ideas for the rest of the “untouched” house yet? or a timeline of when you would like it “done”?
Oh yeah. I think we are in the same boat Katie…I would love to rush and get it all done…but that fear of wasting time and money keeps me in check. I definitely have SOOO many ideas for the rest of the house (some Jer thinks are crazy and some more doable) and our timeline is not rushed. If I learned anything from my mother it is that changing your home is a life long process. And I don’t think it will ever be done

Your home is beautiful! What a dream- for real! LOVE the progress you’ve made so far!
Love that this isn’t a flickr tour anymore! It’s great to see the progress from 35,000 feet & all the changes that have happened since you moved! I imagine if Napoleon stumbled across your blog he’d be jealous of how much better it looks!
WOW! Your dream home is amazing.
LOVE it!!!! We’re moving soon and building and I keep sending the hubs to your site for inspiration! Keep up the fab work
I am so inspired by your blog. Your home is lovely, all the attention to detail you and your husband have given it is wonderful and also has given me so many great ideas! It looks like a house with lots of fun family years to build on. I was also very blessed by your testimony while I was reading over your wedding vows. It’s so awesome to see a young couple starting out their lives, giving God the driver seat to their marriage. You have a beautiful family and I pray God will continue to bless you and yours. I am excited to see all the changes as you continue the progress on your Dream Home! Congrats!
I love the color in your dining room. Would you mind sharing it?
It’s from a gallon of oops paint so I don’t have any clue! I plan on color matching it in the future, so I’ll know at some point…and then I’ll let you know

Hi there. Both of your homes are absolutely gorgeous!
I actually have a question for you. I have a first floor half-bath that Im redoing. The sink placement is between two walls (just like yours is). The space is an odd measurement so most of the pre-made cabinets are too big or too small. So — my question: if there is a gap (approx. 6″) on either side between the cabinet and the wall, do you think that would look weird? Should the cabinet sit almost flush with the wall? Im trying to visualize it in my head, and Im just not sure. What do you think??
Thank you so much! Keep the pictures coming
I don’t think it would look weird with a gap – ours has one and I think it looks normal. I think that the key is to make sure the gap is even on both sides and that you maximize the amount of countertop space. Maybe you could build a frame outta wood with open shelving and use butcher block and a vessel sink to create a custom sized version for not too much moolah? I don’t know how handy you guys are – but it’s not hard to do as long as you have a hammer and a jigsaw!
xo – kb
Totally random…and people may or may not have noticed… but what carpet did you use for the bedrooms?? I love it!! Thanks for making your blog kick so much booty… I love drinking my morning coffee and perusing through everything
It’s Martha Stewart’s Winterthur in Ash Bark. It’s so nice
xo – kb
Hi, I really like the decor of your house! I am looking for a really large rug for our living room and I really like the blue & white striped rug you have – where is it from?
Thanks, Crystal
Hi Crystal,
I got it at the Pottery Barn outlet but it actually a William’s Sonoma rug. Perhaps there are some floating around on ebay
xo – kb
Katie – Your new house is simply gorgeous! I would love something like that to work with…that house would cost near the million mark, possibly more here in Charleston, SC! I love reading your blog…your family is so cute. I too married a preacher’s son and we have two little boys (one born Nov 2005 and one born Aug 2010). I look forward to keeping up with your renovations and design projects. Hope you can take the time to check out my blog: http://www.justhadabrightidea.blogspot.com.

So I am totally obsessed with mudrooms, and have often wondered if you had one. Since your last post mentioned you have a mudroom I think you should share! I know…. I am nosey. Also I wanted to let you know that I love reading your blog as it is apart of my daily routine! <3
haha…it’s not so much a mudroom right now as a room you go in from the basement to go to the bathroom. And it’s tiled. so I call it the mudroom. Eventually I’ll put a bench and some built ins and it will be legit
xo – kb
Hey Katie! I would love an update of rooms!
I started a new DIY blog and feel so inspired by yours! Your house is gorgeous! My husband and I will be looking to buy soon and it would be a dream to find something like this!
Beautiful.
You need to teach your husband to put the seat down, at least when you’re getting ready for a house tour.
ha…that’s not from my husband
xo – kb
What color paint did you use on you office bathroom cabinets? I love it!
It’s called Park Place by Allen+Roth. It’s so purty
xo – kb
LOVE your house! What is the name of the paint in your kitchen? It would work perfect in my new kit!
New here, and already hooked on your blog!
I wish I knew Heather – it was here when we moved in!
xo – kb
Do you mention where your dining room chairs are from? Love those!!!
They were from craigslist…I think I paid $30 for all four.
xo – kb
You are amazingly talented! We had our house built 2 years ago and I am still not sure how to decorate. It doesn’t feel homey yet
You have great ideas… I’m gonna have to be a copycat. Do ya’ll do most of the work yourself or do you hire out?
We do 98% of it ourselves…we don’t have any experience in gas work (since one little mistake can be fatal) (insert fart joke here)…but thankfully my brother is a plumber and licensed for gas too so we just hire him
xo – kb
What EXACTLY is that amazing color you used in your amazing living room with the blue striped rug. My husband took one look at it and said, “I love it, do that” (this from a man who normally grunts with minor inflections when I show him design ideas).
haha…that’s not our choice. It was here when we moved in. We call it toothpaste
xo – kb
Hey Katie. Great job you’re doing on the decorating front! I know you say your loungeroom is complete, but I’m kinda hoping you’re still open to suggestions? It occurred to me that if you were to redress the proportions and overall balance of the feature wall by losing the central ‘arms’ in the stonework, it would open the room up to a more contemporary look and feel. You probably love it just the way it is, and that’s great, but I do wonder if anyone else has similar thoughts for that wall!
Oh heavens – it’s not anywhere close to complete! It’s actually the opposite of complete!
xo – kb
Haha – I know that feeling of a work in progress! Hx
Loving those embroidery hoops in the guest room! Such an ingenious and affordable idea for wall art! Could you tell us how you attached them to the wall?
I just stuck a pin in the wall and hung it on top – I figure if they fell, they are so light they can’t hurt!
xo – kb
Great tip! I can see the hub’s face when I tell him I’m going to hang them with pins!! Hahaha. Hx
Wow your current home is beautiful. Man I wish I had the money to do up my home exactly how I want it. I absolutely love the woodsy nursery in your first home. That’s such a dream!
Hey Katie,
I am a follower of you and Sherry (younghouselove), you guys are amazing. I just love your house…….oops….ur home…….you have nice ideas to decorate it. Will love to see more of ur home improvements.
love,
SM
Hi Katie, you have such a lovely home and your doing greta! love what you’ve done with it so far
is there any chance of an updated house tour soon i’m chomping at the bit to see it in real time as well as pictures. Congrats on the new baby! I read both yours and sherry (younghouselove) blogs on a regular basis and they make me smile and have given me endless inspiration for my own home here in the UK x
I really need to do one huh?! I guess seeing as how our house is always in flux…like right now our kitchen is completely empty and everything is everywhere…it makes it hard to do a tour. I’ll try though soon – promise!
xo – kb
Awwww there’s no rush! didn’t mean to sound pushy! you have a lot on with your pregnancy and the house! when you do a house tour I will definatley watch
we recently did our kitchen completely so I know just how much work goes into it keep up the good work your doing great
xx
Love your blog! Where did you get the shower curtain and wall print in the office bathroom?
Hi Susan,
The shower curtain was from Lowe’s but I modified it with the ruffle at the bottom. And the wall print was actually a Goodwill find
xo – kb
Love your spacious basement. We don’t have one.
I love your style!! Where did you get the white stag in your office?
Hi Jessica,
Here is the post all about it
xo – kb
Where did you print that huge picture of Will???
At Staples. It’s called an engineer print or an oversized print
xo – kb
Thank you so much! You are awesome!!! I LOVE to read your blog!!!!!!!!!!
I was wondering is there anyway you could sketch out your floor plan of your home? Also how many square feet is your home ? Because I love it we are designing out next home to build and I really love your layout! Thanks!!
I actually already have posted these…search ‘dream house tour first floor’ (second floor, basement) for more info!
xo – kb
Hello from Canada. You have a lovely home Katie! They sure liked red in your current house. Congrats on the new baby! Read about it on YHL and popped over here and have you bookmarked now too.
Totally the wrong time to be asking, I know!! Buuut – when you have a second or are browsing comments during a late night feeding session, I’m curious to know how the pivot mirror in your office bathroom is holding up. We’re building a house and I’m trying to work through selections for our master bath. I LOVE the Restoration Hardware pivot mirrors, but just can’t bring myself to pay that much. Are you happy with the Lowes version? Loving the sneak peeks of Weston, by the way – what a doll!
Love the rug in the living room! Where did you get it? Is it a shag rug?
It is a shag…it’s from Pottery Barn but we got it on Craigslist
xo – kb
In basement bathroom is that a DYI vanitity or where did you find it? We are building and that is the exact look I’ve been wanting.
We found it on clearance at Home Depot.
xo – kb
I love love love clusters of frames on a wall. Your staircase is the most beautiful example of this I have seen.
Well done
WOW – if that’s your second house…we may look more forward to moving than previously thought! Beautiful. We love the stone, stairwell, basement. The red walls and dark floor made it like a dungeon. Way to go on lightening things up! That’s how we felt about the guest bedroom we re-painted too. Let’s see house #3!
I love all of the blues paints. I’m so tired of tans and want to paint my family room/kitchen walls a pretty color! Did you ever color match your dining room color?
No but I will…it’s on my list!
xo – kb
Hey girl! Love love love your blog. Do you have a full list of all the paint colors you have used in your house? We are buying our first house and I’m shopping for paint!
I don’t yet. A lot of the colors in our house are not new…so that’s why. Are you looking for a certain color or in a certain room?
xo – kb
Kitchen (I think you said BM Metropolitan?), Dining, Reading room, guest room, and basement. And your office is BM Palladian blue? You’ve done such a great job decorating. It’s getting me pumped to move into our new house!! I get super nervous about making any design decisions though, feeling like it’s permanent, but I’ll have to bite the bullet sometime if I want to get anything done. Thanks for taking the time to write back!
Yes – BM Metropolitan in the kitchen….the dining room was oops paint so I have no idea…the reading room and guest room were that color when we got here so again, no clue…and the basement is Martha Stewarts Ash Bark.
xo – kb
Katie,
We absolutely love, love, LOVE your style and adore your blog. We wanted to drop in to simply thank you for inspiring us, giving us ALL kinds of new ideas, and always making us laugh out loud throughout the process. We’re two high school friends that have spent hours gossiping about your projects and recently decided to take that gossip and creativity and start our very own blog… thanks to you! Truly, thank you. You gave us the inspiration and courage to be who we are, put ourselves out there, and have fun along the way! Thanks for being the ultimate Hall-of-Fame-Blogger.
You’re a rock star!!
Lots and lots of thanks,
The Rookies @ DIY Playbook
Aww thanks! You can do it! I wish you all the success in the world!
xo – kb
Love the house and all of the work you guys put in. Just rewatched all the videos of the dream house tour, would love to see an updated video tour! Thanks for all the inspiration!
xxAlexandra
Hi Katie,
I love the gray used in your kitchen.
My issue is, I have a closet that I would like to turn into a entertainment and computer area. I want to paint it, but have no clue on what color it should be. Do you have any suggestions?
I’m sure that any color would look great…I would suggest something on the lighter side because closets don’t normally get natural light
xo – kb
Katie, I absolutely love your house! It is HUGE!!! actually huge is an understatement! How many bedrooms, bathrooms, living areas do you Actually have? What an amazing place for Will & Weston to grow up!
Well, there is four bedrooms upstairs and two in the basement (but they wouldn’t technically qualify as bedrooms since they don’t have windows), it has four and a half baths and then one jack n jill bath (total 5.5?)…you can see the floorplans here and here and here.
xo – kb
Just found your blog and really enjoy it. Your home is freaking huge, lol!
