Thank you for your interest in advertising on the Bower Power blog.

What is the background on Bower Power?

The Bower Power blog was started in June of 2008 and has grown organically from nothing to over 1 million views per month (and that isn’t counting the 5000+ subscribers that read on aggregate sites like Google Reader or the hundreds of email subscribers that get posts delivered to their inbox on a daily basis).  Plus, we are seeing even more growth with recent months as ABP has featured more renovations, projects, photography how-tos, and mommy-friendly posts.  We are also happy to announce that Bower Power has been recognized for the following:

  • Featured on the House Proud segment on The Nate Show in January 2011
  • Awarded Apartment Therapy’s Homies award for Best Home Design blog in 2012
  • Placed as 1st runner up for Apartment Therapy’s Homies award for Best DIY blog in 2012
  • Featured in Good Housekeeping in April 2013

1 million pageviews per month – how do you track that?

Before recently, we hadn’t even tracked the hits on the site…it wasn’t really that important if you aren’t advertising…so you can imagine our surprise when we finally ventured into the blog stats that are provided on wordpress blogs and read that we actually DO have more than my mother & a couple cousins tuning in!  In fact, we were flabberghasted at seeing the growth chart and since then have migrated to our own server and can provide the stats that Google Analytics delivers to our sponsors upon request.

What exactly do sponsors get on ABP?

First and foremost, we do not advertise products or sites that we do not personally endorse.  We believe in transparency and truthfulness in advertising and would not associate ourselves with items or products that we wouldn’t personally use in our own home or enjoy owning ourselves.  We know that this limits our sponsor income but in the end, we know that being chosen as an advertiser adds credibility to you and promotes trust with our readers.

We decided that the best way to bring awareness to each sponsor would be two-fold.  First, all advertisers receive a spot in the blog’s sidebar and two – each sponsor would also be featured in a monthly review blog post called the Monthly Report.  (click here to see a sample).  Since that shoutout & link are in the body of a post – it will live on ABP forever.  We would love to feature any discounts that you are willing to provide to ABP readers or giveaways that you are currently providing on your own site…so please do not hesitate to give me this info when you pay for your advertising spot.

Please email us at [email protected] for advertising rates.

All sponsorship perks are part of the monthly package that is payable on Paypal only.  Sorry – no business or personal checks can be accepted right now.  Rates are not guaranteed for future months…however, if you would like to “lock-in” at a rate, we do accept prepayments.

What do we need to get started?

Many new readers find their way to our site every day, specifically when it comes to project know-how, decor and improving their home – and advertising great products and services is one small way that we feel we are helping our readers in their quest for a happier & healthier home.  If you are still interested in becoming a sponsor – great! Just click the button below to pay the monthly fee and then shoot us a line at [email protected] that gives us the following information and we will send a note confirming your advertising spot:

  • Company Name
  • Company info – location, offered services or products (please limit to under 50 words), website address
  • Company visual ad according to size of ad you would like to purchase
  • Any info about discounts you can offer ABP readers as incentive

What if I just want to sponsor a giveaway?

Easy-peasy.  We love giving stuff away around here and our readers love free stuff (who doesn’t, right?!?!).  All you have to do is shoot me an email at [email protected] with the following information:

  • the details of the prize item or details of gift certificate or code
  • the product name and description
  • the shipping area
  • the details for winners to receive their prizes (Do you need only an email address?)
  • any additional information or photos that you would like to include

Please note that not all giveaways are accepted or guaranteed.  You will receive an email from us if yours is chosen as a future giveaway.  All freebies need to include shipping to the winner’s address (it’s not a freebie if they have to pay, right!?).

Sponsors are subject to approval and may be denied if we feel the subject of your store or blog does not fit our readership.

What happened to the list of friends (“bloggers”) you had on this site (eg. Wunderluster, Sherry, Freckles, etc….)?

    Katie,
I know you’ve been having some problems with wordpress, and I wanted to extend my help if you’d like it for free. Just send me an email :)

I noticed that you and Sherry don’t have links to other blogs anymore. I really liked being able to find cool blogs through your blog hub:) I should’ve saved them. If you ever think of bringing that back I’m a big fan.

They’re still here–it’s under “Blogroll” (right underneath the ad info button). I think the first names of the bloggers are just listed, but if you click on the name it takes you to their site. :)

    Hi Katie,

I signed up and paid for an Ad on Sunday and have sent you a few emails but have heard nothing back. Before I initiate a refund through PayPal I thought I would try leaving a comment in case there is something wrong with your email. Please let me know the status of my ad ASAP.

My email has been a box of chaos – it might have gotten lost behind thousands of others…let me search your name and I’ll try to email you back :)

    Hi Katie,

We would like to advertise with you. I’ve emailed three times from a couple of different emails to a couple of your email addresses (your gmail and your bower power.com). Could you let me know if you have received any of my communications and if it is possible to advertise? I’d appreciate it.

    Thanks a bunch

    Hi Katie,
Your blog is terrific – wish I knew where to start on making one. I’m a teacher and recently Scentsy Consultant- need to advertise but with minimal start up budget. If you accepts gifts from Ontario Canada then I’m willing to donate. Any suggestions…thanks,
    Mariann

Thanks Mariann but currently we already have a Scentsy Consultant as a sponsor. Thank you so much for the offer though!

    Hi Katie,
Wondering if you’re interested in a product review/giveaway for kids mittens? We have a patented mitten with an extra long cuff…so mittens stay-on in the snow, thus kids play longer. I know you don’t have much snow there, but these mittens keep the little ones warm. We even have XS mittens for our littlest customers with no thumbs. Moms love them, including me!!

Let me know if we can put something together.

PS i’ve been personally following your blog / your growing family for years now, and with my new position at snowstoppers want to include your blog as a place for moms like me/and you to see our products!

    Best,
    Lori Weston

Enjoying the blog and wondering about your advertising rates. I have started making fun kids’ bedroom door signs and thought it might be a nice fit with your blog! I’ll email you as well to ask re: rates. Thanks!
