What is the background on Bower Power?

The Bower Power blog was started in June of 2008 and has grown organically from nothing to over 800,000 views per month (and that isn’t counting the 5000+ subscribers that read on aggregate sites like Google Reader or the hundreds of email subscribers that get posts delivered to their inbox on a daily basis).  Plus, we are seeing even more growth with recent months as ABP has featured more renovations, projects, photography how-tos, and mommy-friendly posts.

800,000 pageviews per month – how do you track that?

Before recently, we hadn’t even tracked the hits on the site…it wasn’t really that important if you aren’t advertising…so you can imagine our surprise when we finally ventured into the blog stats that are provided on wordpress blogs and read that we actually DO have more than my mother & a couple cousins tuning in!  In fact, we were flabberghasted at seeing the growth chart and since then have migrated to our own domain and can provide the stats that Bluehost delivers to our sponsors upon request.

What exactly do sponsors get on ABP?

First and foremost, we do not advertise products or sites that we do not personally endorse.  We believe in transparency and truthfulness in advertising and would not associate ourselves with items or products that we wouldn’t personally use in our own home or enjoy owning ourselves.  We know that this limits our sponsor income but in the end, we know that being chosen as an advertiser adds credibility to you and promotes trust with our readers.

We decided that the best way to bring awareness to each sponsor would be two-fold.  First, all advertisers receive a spot in the blog’s sidebar (right now we only accept two sizes (120×240 JPEGs or 120×120 JPEGs) and two – each sponsor would also be featured in a monthly sponsor blog post called the Monthly Report.  (click here to see a sample).  Since that shoutout & link are in the body of a post – it will live on ABP forever.  We would love to feature any discounts that you are willing to provide to ABP readers or giveaways that you are currently providing on your own site…so please do not hesitate to give me this info when you pay for your advertising spot.

How much does sponsorship cost?

Starting in June 2010, all ad spots are going to cost only $50 per month.  All sponsorship perks are part of the monthly package that is payable on Paypal only.  Sorry – no business or personal checks can be accepted right now.  Rates are not guaranteed for future months…however, if you would like to “lock-in” at a rate, we do accept prepayments.

What do we need to get started?

Many new readers find their way to our site every day, specifically when it comes to project know-how, decor and improving their home – and advertising great products and services is one small way that we feel we are helping our readers in their quest for a happier & healthier home.  If you are still interested in becoming a sponsor – great! Just click the button below to pay the monthly fee and then shoot us a line at ads@bowerpowerblog.com that gives us the following information and we will send a note confirming your advertising spot:

• Company Name
• Company info – location, offered services or products (please limit to under 50 words), website address
• Company visual ad (120×240 JPEG or 120×120 JPEG)
• Any info about discounts you can offer ABP readers as incentive

 What if I just want to sponsor a giveaway?

Easy-peasy.  We love giving stuff away around here and our readers love free stuff (who doesn’t, right?!?!).  All you have to do is shoot me an email at ads@bowerpowerblog.com with the following information:

• the details of the prize item or details of gift certificate or code
• the product name and description
• the shipping area
• the details for winners to receive their prizes (Do you need only an email address?)
• any additional information or photos that you would like to include
