I live in the south.
I wouldn’t necessarily say I am a southerner. More of a Jersey Peach. Translocated from my home, the Garden State, to Georgia…the state of Jeff Foxworthy and Coca-Cola and Gone with the Wind. It’s lovely here…but sometimes, just sometimes, I dream of white landscapes and snowball fights and winning $10,000 from America’s Funniest Home Videos for footage of Jeremy falling off the roof because of a snow avalanche.
Hey, a girl can dream right?
Well, last night my dreams came true.
While watching the BCS game, we peered outside and saw this:
That’s right! Our lovely southern state got a dusting.
I ran waddled out with my camera (in shorts no less) to snag a couple shots of the front of our house – just in case it had all melted by the morning.
Oh – and I did play in the snow just a little. Call it weenus-envy but this is the only way us females can write in the snow. Still it was fun 🙂
Even though I was convinced that the morning would bring nothing but a watery driveway and a few patches of black ice…I was pleasantly surprised to see that we still had a few flakes on the ground. Just enough to satisfy my white-is-right-hue-mentality.
Yes, it is January 8th. And yes, we haven’t taken down our Christmas decor. Go ahead and judge me. Pregnant girls get it all the time. We eat too much, we look too big, we don’t exercise enough, we smoke too much weed…the judging just never stops.
Back to the snow – this morning reminds me of last year…
Snow Day in March of 2009.
We got like four inches and it was great.
And looking back at old photos got me all nostalgic. Just check out how much has changed in 10 months…our entire landscape looks different!
And now I can’t wait to see it next year…can you imagine? The bushes will be bigger and the snow might actually sit on top of them instead of just around them…ooohhhh dreamy! Wait – is it weird that I dream about bigger bushes?
So how’s the weather in your parts? Are you getting flutters too? Or maybe you think it is ridiculous to call the smattering of white stuff that Georgia delivers as ‘real snow’. Whatever you are experiencing when it comes to the climate – let me know…we could even consider this like a world-wide weather report and ABP your new source for bringing you the low-down on what’s up 🙂
