Girly Glamour.
That’s what we shall call this one.
And it would look really cute for a little girl, dontcha think? I know that I cared about my nursery as an infant 🙂
COLORS – The walls will stay the light blue – ya know, for a bit of contrast – and I want to really make the pink pop so blue will be the perfect backdrop for splashes of white and pink. I am going for girly and glamorous….something that I would like. Because obviously if this little tike is a girl – then we need to program her into being just like me since I am so uber awesome. (wait – does saying the word ‘uber’ make me awesome or creepy?)
FURNITURE – The crib that we scored off craigslist will get a little revamp (can I use the word ‘vamp’ when talking about a baby girl?) in the form of white paint. And instead of the leather recliner, a white upholstered chair (with a matching ottoman) will give me some cush for a soon-to-be-very-worn-out tush. The cheap storage piece (that is still high on my to-do list) will be great for mini dresses and matching sparkly shoes. And the jury is still out on the changing table/dresser with cushion/knee pads for floor changes debate. I will definitely have to get something stomach height if a c-section comes into play…but otherwise, I think I might be too lazy to actually stand while changing the pooper snooper. Either way, a bookshelf might be the best idea to take up a little wall space and allow extra toy storage.
LIGHTING – The oversized glass bottom lamp (not shown above) will still be a great addition as well as the white faux bois style fixture (that I plan on making with my own two preggo hands). You can read all about how I wanna DIY it here.
LINENS – Bold pink linens would really pop against the blue and the white. The pink polkadot curtains and pompom pillow will have our little girl feeling like a princess (from PBTeen). And the pink & white polkadot fitted sheet (from Target) will go very nicely with a pink & white bedskirt (from PBkids). Lastly, I wanna work in some fun colorful fabrics in the form of throw pillows either for baby cuddling or for supporting during feeding.
ACCESSORIES – Number one accesssory in my book would be a huge white ornate mirror. Pastor Dad generously handed one down to us that used to belong to Aunt Jo…and wouldn’t it be oh-so-special to give the baby girl a piece of that great great Aunt who really was great great? Other than that – I think a white owl would be a nice touch. Afterall, the kid has got to learn to love wildlife if wolves are gonna raise her! ooowwww!
So there you have it – a few little ideas for sprucing up our office into a baby abode fit for a princess. Any favorite parts? Are you hating the woodsy light? How bout any more votes in the changing table debate? Anyone think that it might be too grown-up? That I might be forcing my undetermined daughter into teenagehood too soon? Well, I figure we might as well talk about boys right away….after all, she is going to be uber-awesome, right?
