During wedding week, Jeremy & I celebrated our 2 year anniversary by hitting the friendly skies and landing in the Dominican Republic.
We stayed at an all inclusive resort called Dreams La Romana for 8 days and 7 nights.
It was heavenly.
My favorite part of the trip was doing absolutely nothing.
No schedule.
No wake up times.
No effort.
Coming in a close second was just being at the beach with my toes in the sand and experiencing some amazing sunsets. Dontcha just love the beach?!?!
The sun would start to set and the sky would go Pepto-pink. And just like Pepto, it could soothe you from the inside out.
It was doubly romantic because you could be sucking down a pina colada or swimming in the still-warm-from-the-summer-sun water. Both Jeremy & I felt like celebrities. Except without the rock-hard bodies from being chased by paparazzi. But that’s ok. I like to think that we enjoy life a little more than the Beckham’s because we aren’t afraid of being soft around the middle. Although, I would totally love to have an English accent. Maybe I’ll ask for one for Christmas.
Anyhoo. At night, the resort was equally beautiful. They even had an entertainment team would make us laugh till our smile muscles cramped…
…and the food? Forget about it. (name that movie!)
Although we are used to American food, we were able to choke down breakfast, lunch, dinner, tea time, snacks, supper, and dessert. Plus a nightcap. And about fourteen frosty beverages brought to us by servers on the beach. Every hour.
And you might be wondering what we did all day for 8 days. I did this:
(yes – I photoshopped out all cellulite evidence…because I am vain like that…nothing could be done about the blazing red forehead).
And Jeremy played in the resort’s activities. Doesn’t my boyfriend look like a professional water polo player with that oversized earmuffed yamaka? Dashing.
But for the most part, we sunbathed, ate, got couples massages, ate, played beach volleyball, ate, made friends with a lovely Italian couple, ate with said Italian couple, rode bikes and well, ate.
It was a splendid little vacation. A break from the real world. A relief. And probably the last one we will have in a long time. I hear that once you start having kids, it’s like you can kiss goodbye to all vacations, trips, and romantic getaways. And personal hygiene? Forget about it.
