Disclaimer – This is a sponsored post brought to you by Ryobi. All opinions are 100% my own.
It’s no secret that we are fans of Ryobi power tools. We have tried out SO many different brands and talked to so many folks who have full time jobs testing and reviewing different tools and at the end of the day, we always come back to the fact that Ryobi fits the DIYer’s bill. So this Father’s Day, you probably are wondering how you can spoil your own father, husband or family member. We are here to help. If you are in the market for a really great present that will be LOVED and make you look like a rockstar gift giver, consider us your personal tool shopper today!
So the first thing you should know is that right now is Ryobi Days at Home Depot. That means that they have amazing sale prices that will end. Some of these prices are only available through June 21st so if you get your dear ole Pops a gift card, he may not snag these prices in time…it’s best to just buy the actual tool.
And speaking of buying tools….how are you supposed to know what to buy if you don’t already know what he has, what is a good deal and what he can do with it? I think that these questions are the most common hesitations.
When it comes to knowing what tool to purchase….think of it this way….if your husband bought you perfume for your birthday and you already had Chanel No.5….would you be frustrated or flattered? I would totally be flattered. If you are a scrapbooker and your husband bought you a big pack of specialty scissors and textural stickers, would you think less of the present because you doubled up on supplies? Nope. You would create an entire scrapbook highlighting your year. Think of it like a dude….you can’t have too much of a good thing.
What can he do with the particular tool? Well, in general Ryobi is a great brand for DIY furniture, home improvement and general renovations. If you have a question what a tool is for….here is a cheat sheet….
- MITER SAW – cutting boards for building plans, trim work and craft projects
- CIRCULAR SAW – cutting boards and plywood
- SAWZALL – demo work and rough cutting branches and other wood items like 2×4 studs, can also cut metal
- JIGSAW – cutting fine designs like those wood words
- DRILL – making holes in wood and for assembling furniture with screwdriver bits
- IMPACT DRIVER – like a drill but also has hammering action
- MULTI TOOL – a smaller tool with different attachment heads for making small cuts, trimming smaller pieces
- BRAD NAILER – a nail gun that forces a small nail out with pressurized air (no hammer required) great for crafts or trim attachment
As for price….tools in general aren’t more expensive than a Target run or getting highlights or a family of four going to dinner at Chili’s. BUT now is the best time to buy…because like I said….SALES.
So if you are questioning whether or not tools are a good idea….tools ARE ALWAYS a good idea. And we are here to share the pieces that we would buy so you know it’s gonna be a good deal.
We trotted around Home Depot and found TONS of deals but we narrowed it down and here is what we think is the best promotions right now. These are Jeremy Bower approved 🙂
First and foremost, Jeremy could not get over the Ryobi 6 piece ultimate combo kit. It is ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS OFF….making it only $199 for over $450 worth of tools.
You get to give your hubs a drill, driver, circular saw, sawzall, multi-tool, flashlight, and a battery charger. Speaking of battery – the same battery works with ALL the cordless tools…so that’s HUGE.
Jeremy was also drawn to this 18V Score Wireless Speaker set. It’s new technology and perfect for that tech-lover in the family. It connects with bluetooth to your phone’s playlist and you can connect up to four additional speakers to the hub. Talk about surround sound!
We brought one home and he has it playing AS WE SPEAK.
One of our personal favorite Ryobi items is the Garage Door Opener. It’s super quiet (so it doesn’t wake up the kids napping above the garage!), can be opened from your phone app, and has modules so you can customize it. We love love love ours!
Right now if you buy the opener, you can get a free garage door accessory….we personally feel like these three are our favorite – the retractable cord reel (so you never have to search for that pesky extension cord), the fan that plugs in (hello Atlanta weather!) and they just came out with the inflator! It’s perfect for blowing up tires, filling basketballs or footballs, or even running your pneumatic tools.
If you need to read our review to understand how that garage door opener works, here is the link.
Speaking of inflators…if you don’t have this cordless inflator yet you should probably question all your life’s choices.
It’s one of those things that you don’t realize you need until you own it and it changes EVERYTHING. It’s marked down to under $20. Buy one for dad. Buy one for yourself. Buy one for that sports coach that encouraged Johnny when he drop kicked the soccer ball into the woods. Buy one for your brother. You will literally never blow up a pool float again.
Weston said he wanted one (he is following in Will’s footsteps and wants his own tools) and I captured this beauty of Max snagging his own wish list item in the background 🙂 He just walked over, picked up the box and put it in the cart. I didn’t know whether to tell him no or just congratulate him on excellent taste. With great tools comes great responsibility son.
The other really great deal I have to tell you about is the Buy A Drill Get a Tool promotion. It took me a minute to figure out what this actually meant but here is the deal….you buy a drill/driver kit….it’s like the mixing bowl of the kitchen…you can never have too many….so you buy that and then you get to select another tool FOR FREE.
That means you can get a jig saw FOR FREE.
You realize that means you can make this standing industrial fan with those two tools….(if superdad makes this vs buying it, it PAYS FOR THE GIFT. Just sayin….)
Or you can buy the drill/driver and get the Supercharger that we have in our garage….FOR FREE….
Or you can get the Hybrid Stereo that Jeremy is obsessed with….FOR FREE….
Or a number of other tools. It’s kinda insane to think that you could get two really great tools and a battery with charger for under $100. That’s less than a dinner of drinks and hibachi. Insanity people. Insanity.
One of the items I think is a great purchase is the brad nailer. It’s normally $129….now marked down to $99….
I use it on a TON of different projects. It’s one of those I’m-buying-it-for-you-but-actually-for-me kinda gifts. No shame in that game ladies.
So make sure you go in there and get something that will keep SuperDad feeling like he can do just about anything. We started off with no experience and no tools and we were gifted a combo kit (it had a drill, sawzall, and circular saw like this 4Pc Combo kit that is on sale!) by Jeremy’s dad. And now we are big believers in the fact that tools really can change your life!
And if you have any questions about tools for Fathers Day….or any other day….I’d love to hear them! Maybe you can’t decide between a bigger miter saw or a jigsaw. Or maybe you want to build more furniture….what tools would be best? Or maybe you want to finish a basement or renovate a bathroom. We can lend experience and smother it in corny jokes 🙂
Hope you guys have a crazy awesome summer weekend! Happy Shopping!
