Craft time people and this one is for the little ones in your life! Get ready because we are gonna make this fabric bohemian baby mobile and you may become a mobile making fool. Warning – you are gonna have so much fun doing it that basically the rest of life will become like an old fruit snack that fell out of the package and is now melting into the upholstery of your car…..it could have been tasty. but now it’s just one big mess. And the next thing you know, you are giving your 86 year old neighbor a baby mobile for Mother’s Day. Its gonna happen. Just wait.
So my favorite part of this craft is that my sister and I did it together to celebrate the arrival of our brother’s baby girl. It was so fun to make Baby D a gift that was personalized just for her and especially with something both Norn and I are passionate about – polka dots 🙂
We also happened to capture the whole thing on film….and you must wait for the end because that is where we talk about the riveting topic of the Dad Bod 🙂
Oh that Nornie cracks me up 🙂
Okay – so if you can’t watch the video right now (nursing mama’s I hear ya!) – here is the play by play how to.
First gather your supplies. You will need at least four different types of fabrics….we used 3 yards of the white, one yard of the dark brown, one and half yards of the gray and yellow. You will also need some string (6 yards) and an embroidery hoop and some beads. We used nine dark brown wooden craft beads that you can purchase just about anywhere.
First tear your fabric into strips. We did strips that were almost one yard in length and about two inches wide. Cut your string into three different pieces – each 2 yards long. Loop those strings onto the hoop and then throw three beads on each one like so….
Connect those strings into one knot by tying them together about a foot above the hoop. We braided the three strings at that point and then tied another knot on top. You are almost done!
Now just take those strips of fabric and loop them onto the hoop like so….
Hang and enjoy!
Isn’t that ridiculously easy?!
And look how boho and cute this is!!!
It’s kinda like a little fabric tutu for your baby’s nursery 🙂
So now it’s time to go get hooked on this craft. It’s the perfect gift and it’s practically impossible to mess up. Trust me….if anyone could end up with a Kroger bag full of fabric hanging from a hook…it’s me 🙂 Hooray for idiot-proof crafts! Now go make one yourself….I can’t tell you that it will change your life….but it might. And when it does, you need to tell me so I can put you in my tell-all book 🙂
Happy crafting you guys!
