So excited to share with you the newest update in the playroom! I have been hemming and hawing over that weird nook in the back of this space and we finally decided to make it a nook for art! We have already added the art to the wall but it needed more…
I fell in love with this Pottery Barn kid’s art table with the cubby space and the roll for paper and decided to make my own version for the boys.
It was such a fun build and super easy for anyone that has kiddos! The best part is that the table top (seen below unfinished) is built completely independent from the legs so you can literally build a new set of legs when the kids get bigger and make this into a tween, teen or a college student desk! It grows with you!
Also – the original PBKids version has two cubbies but we really need more spread-out space…so we did only one side cubby and the roll of paper can go from underneath through that ‘gap’ and all the way down so two kids can color at the same time.
The required tools are super simple (miter saw, circular saw, drill and Kreg Jig!) and you can build this in an afternoon. Will was super stoked when the paint and poly dried so that he could give it a spin.

The tins are from Target dollar spot and the wood crayons and colored pencils I got at various places. I will link some sources to the bottom of this post for similar items (and a rug that makes me drool).
