Weird and unusual are two words that probably describe me well.
And encouraging and kind describe you all. Ok ok…and a little ‘unique’ too.
Seriously though, I can’t thank you enough for making me feel, well, not so weird about my first home sentiments. And thanks for your encouragement to forge ahead with the new house. So in the most awkward way possible…I love you. And you can imagine me batting my eyelashes as I say that.
Moving right along…I need to hang pictures on the walls. It’s been six months and the only thing on the walls is in the first floor bathroom. So one of my Mission Home Making assignments is to hang stuff. Enter Kid’s Bathroom…
Nope, never have cleaned this bad boy. Don’t judge me…it’s not nice. I will get to it. It’s just that I need to scrape the peeling paint on the molding and I don’t want to clean the floor twice. That would be overkill.
So I decided as a little incentive to get-er-done, I would hang some art. Somehow art inspires me to tackle rooms…it gives me direction. So I did.
Isn’t it cute? I know – it’s quirky and fun and colorful…but this is a kid’s bathroom afterall. And the best part? It was free. I made it. But what is so special about it? I’ll give you zero guesses and just tell you…
It’s sticker art! Who knew stickers could be so fun!? Okay granted it’s not the most high-class thing in the world but it’s definitely kid friendly.
Jenny at Little Green Notebook blogged about this treatment on walls. I couldn’t help myself…I gave it a whirl. God bless blogging and the inspiration it provides, can I get an amen?!
For those of you wondering, yes I have a box full of stickers and tatoos. Doesn’t everyone?
And no, I’m not gonna explain how to do this…because it would sound like this – peel sticker, stick sticker, repeat. I will say this…it helps to have little stickers…my collection apparently is of the bigger-is-better mindset so it was a challenge.
In the end, I still like it. It’s like me…a little weird and colorful…but from far away it doesn’t look so bad. That’s how I snagged Jeremy by the way 🙂
And all the different colors inspire me to make this bathroom really fun and kid friendly while being creative and using what we have on hand.
So anyone else up for sticker art? I betcha this is would be even more amazing if a kid actually did it for their own room!
p.s. don’t be hating on my blue rag rolled bathroom walls…I swear they are coming back in.
p.p.s. don’t believe anything I say. and at least they aren’t pink 🙂
