I love love love Etsy.

I think because secretly I wish I could be a real artist.  Like a hipster flower child who camps out in a tiny light filled studio with a paint splattered floor and not an inch of open wall space.  But in reality, Etsy provides a place that anyone can be an artist.  You can be a prim and proper grandmother.  You can be a teenage boy.  You can be a middle aged mother of three with dirty dishes in your sink and a song in your heart.  Etsy doesn’t discriminate.  Etsy allows us as creative creators to come together and craft whatever makes us smile.

What makes me smile is when I find a Etsy seller that embodies that spirit.  Someone that captures things in such a special way that I love looking at their art.  That someone today is artist Kim Albrich of Albie Designs.  She is mommy of two from Lake Oswego, Oregon (it’s near Portland) and well….just take a look at how beautiful this is…

Amazing.

I looked at it and Jeremy peeked over and said “Doesn’t it remind you of that hotel where we got engaged?  Portofino Bay?”

He was so right.  It does.

And she does more.  She does LOTS more.  I already have on my wishlist the Atlanta version, the Pittsburgh art, and I would totally add to the collection a Chattanooga one (wink wink).

  1. Albie crossing my fingers! There will always be a special spot in my heart for Florence, Italy – I lived there for 4 months in college. I also love the Neuschwanstein castle in Germany (the one Disney castle is based off of) – my husband proposed to me on a bridge overlooking that castle! 🙂

    Dayton, Ohio is my city of choice. I have lived in this area all of my life and all the important events in my life have been here. In addition it is the birth place of aviation as the Wright Brothers invented the air plane here. Lots of history in this city.

    The hubby and I vacationed in Charleston, SC last summer and it was amazing. We have 3 kids (8 year old & 4 year old twins) so our first adult-only vacation helped give us the reconnection our marriage needed!!

    Indianapolis would be my city of choice. I was born & raised there! Still live there, but may be moving in the near-ish future, so I’d love a pic of my hometown to take with me.

  20. Albie crossing my fingers! Oh man, hard question! There are so many cities that mean a great deal to me. Right now I would have to say Magdela, on the edge of the Sea of Galilee. Its now actually just the ruins of the city but it is where Mary Magdelene is from…she is my patron saint and my little 6 month old is named Madeleine (meaning women of Magdela).

    Pittsburgh, born, raised, and have lived here my whole life. Met the love of my life and had both of my babies here. It is such an amazing city to raise a family in. So glad I get to!

  28. Albie crossing my fingers!! The place my husband and I are most attached to is Block Island Rhode Island. Its beautiful and peaceful despite the tourists and we’ve made some great memories there. We’re sad not to have time for another visit before we leave the East Coast next year.

    New Orleans is my favorite city. I’m from Louisiana and my grandmother lived in New Orleans. We would go visit her several times a year, visiting the zoo, riding street cars, eating po-boys, and we LOVED Mardi Gras. I haven’t been there in a long time and I really miss it.

    I have two cities that mean the world to me (there’s a pun in there somewhere).

    London, is where I feel most at home and where I told my true love he was my true love. Two years later, we would become engaged in the same London phone booth from which I used to call and declare my love.

    Chicago is where I grew-up (outside the city) and have lived (inside the city) for 9 years raising a family with the same true love.

    I would have to say Pittsburgh. I was born and raised there and moved away for college. I still miss it, even 11 years later.

  40. Albie crossing my fingers.. Dublin, Key West, or Tampa. Dublin is where I had my first day with my fiance and Key West is where he propsed. We live in Tampa and will be getting married here next year. If I win I may have to get a few more prints to go along with it 🙂

  44. Albie crossing my fingers! I only lived in Portland, OR for 5 years as a child, and then again for 5 years after college, but it is my hometown. I love it to pieces and feel so at home there. Some day I hope to live in a beautiful victorian house in one of the neighborhoods that has trees so big they must have been planted during the dinosaurs.

We have family who live there and we are huge Steelers and Penguins fans 🙂 Our most special memory in Pittsburgh is our engagement overlooking the city at the top of the Duquesne incline 🙂

    My favourite city is Melbourne, Australia. I was born here and lived here most of my life (except for travelling!). It has just been voted the worlds most liveable city for the third time in a row – everyone should travel here, it’s amazing!

    The city/location that means the most to me is Siesta Key, Florida. We love that you can feel like you are visiting a tropical location while only being a 3 hour flight from NYC! My family has a place there and has vacationed there for years. My husband and I were married on the beach there 4 years ago and we are going back with 10 family members for our anniversary to celebrate!

    New Orleans means the most to me. 8 Years ago today, Katrina filled our bowl of a city with several feet of water. But now we’re back, better than ever and I can’t imagine living anywhere else. I know it sounds strange to some, but to those who question it, I question why they have never visited, because if they had, they would get it.

Every time I revisit the campus, I cry. every. single. time. But truth be told, I’d take just about any city from Albie Designs–particularly St. Paul and/or Minneapolis. Represent! 🙂

    Manteo, NC is pretty significant in my life… it’s where I met my now husband and where we had custom wedding bands made!

    Boston, MA. I went to college there, and on a vacation back, my (now) husband proposed there which was a complete surprise.

Would love either the Chicago print (went there for college and LOVE the city) because it reminds me of all the times my friends and I would randomly decide to explore the city via public transit and have to huddle together for warmth penguin style while waiting on the train platform or the Washington DC print (where I currently live) because it shows my favorite running route (aka running all the monuments – it’s really cool, especially during the evening when they’re all lit up – and still not believing this is home).

    I was born and raised in Sarnia,Ontario. I met my best friend and husband in high school. We have been together now for 16 years…that’s some crazy corn dogs there. But New York is a city where it feels the most memorable. I remember when my not yet husband and I were on a trip, we just walked the streets together , ate dinner, normal things people do on trips but being alone together, both of us imagining our lives together felt like magic.

    Our current city of Clinton is my favorite! It has a small town charm that we love! |With weekly farmer’s markets during the summer, vendor markets with only handmade in Mississippi stuff allowed during the spring and fall, and shops that are by local business people, this is a place we’d love to call home for a long time!

    My first choice would have been Raleigh, NC b/c that’s where I got engaged, bought a house, and am about to get married!

    But because Albie doesn’t have that on her page, I’ll choose Washington, DC – where I’ve lived the majority of my life. The drawing is so clean and simple and reminds me of the main places I love about DC.

    We’ve never really had a city that we love the way so many people do. But I grew up, met and fell in love with my husband and had all three of my babies in Kearney, Nebraska. We don’t live there anymore but it still feels like ‘home’ when we go to visit 🙂

    lisbon, portugal. it’s where i was born, where i met the boy of my life, it’s the capital city of my country, it’s where i work and i live nearby. it has the most unique light and i really wanted a work of art like that to showcase its beauty 🙂

    Nags Head, NC means the most to me…it’s where my fiance and I have had our most memorable vacations together. It’s such a laid back little beach town…not crowded and overrun by teenagers like most places. (Did I REALLY just say that? I’m only 28!) It’s just a great place to kick back and forget your troubles for a week. We love it!

  155. Albie crossing my fingers! Two cities really stand out for me: Wilkes-Barre, PA where I went to college (and really started to become myself and an adult) and Charleston, SC. My husband and I visited there in November one year for our anniversary and it was just perfect. I was skinny and bought cute jeans in the little downtown shops, we ate beignets and took a self-guided walking tour to check out the architecture. Just a piece of heaven.

    Waikiki is so meaningful to us. It is wear we speant our Honeymoon, it is the place where we both say we feel so peaceful. We love hiking, surfing, swimming, etc. in Hawaii. We just went again this summer and it was a blast.

    I’m split between Williamsburg, VA where I met my husband, but I can’t turn my back on the RVA (Richmond Va) where I was raised and now live. It is an amazing city with some fantastic scenery that makes for great art!

    These prints are so much fun… seriously laughed out loud at the “Simmer down” one. I would choose the one of Seattle. My brother and family just moved there a few weeks ago and my husband was born in a teeny town outside of Tacoma. So the Pacific Northwest is a sweet spot for us.

    My favorite city is Milwaukee, WI. Though I only lived there for a few years as a child, and then went there for a few years as a young adult to start my college journey, that city has a hold on my heart. I feel like it is where I really began to discover who I am as a person, and the people are amazing, and the city just has so much to offer.

    I have ambitions to move there some day (soon hopefully!) and would love to live and have a family there as well.

    Can I have two? I’m lucky to have two places that mean the world to me. The first is Knoxville, TN. That’s where my life changed. It’s where I met my husband, went to graduate school, found my career, made lifelong friends, and gave birth to my first child. Without Knoxville, I wouldn’t be who or where I am today.

    And there is London. Always, always London. It’s where I grew up and it is my first love, the city of my heart and where my parents, siblings, nieces and nephews still live. I’d move back tomorrow if I could.

    Its hard to choose, but probably NYC. My husband and I have been there 3 (soon 4) times in our 4.5 year marriage. We love exploring the city and mostly eating our way around.     My home is New Orleans, and the print for the city is perfect. Today is the 8th anniversary of Katrina. For the 6 weeks while we were evacuated, we were often asked if we were going back to New Orleans. For my husband and myself, we never considered not going home. We truly learned what “home” was for us. There is a popular t-shirt here-Be A New Orleanian wherever you are. To me, that means enjoying life-food, music, people. This is the spirit of New Orleans, and that’s why I’m proud to call it home.

    Indian Pass, FL. Not technically a city of its own but a little peninsula between Port Saint Joe and Apalachicola. It is our slice of heaven. Unspoiled quiet beaches, all private homes spread way apart, and a nature preserve island just across the way with some of the coolest wildlife you will ever see. We went for a week for our honeymoon in 2011 and are going back next month. Ohmygosh I can not wait!

    The little town I grew up in, in very rural Manitoba will always be dear to me. But I’ve come to love my current city, Guelph in Ontario, just as much. This is where I gained my independence, where I went to university, met my now husband, got married and bought our first house.

    The one that means the absolute most is Fort Wayne, Ind. where my husband and I both grew up, met, got married, live now. Our whole lives are here. But for the cities available in her shop I’d have to say NYC. We’ve traveled there a few times and loved it. Plus that’s where we were when we got the call that we had been picked as adoptive parents for our now son. Very exciting. =)

It’s one of those cities you keep ending up in for many years. Between several moves I had both my children there and graduated college from UTK. We lived in “the fort” and our apartment faced the sunsphere and every night I’d hold my little girl up to the window and we’d tell it goodnight before bed. Precious memories there.

    I think the city that means the most to me will forever be New Caney, Texas. A small town with nothing of any importance- except- my Grandparent’s house. They have lived there for ever and every positive memory of my childhood is set there. I cannot imagine a life where I can’t go back to that house. I know it will come one day. My Grandma passed away during Hurricane Ike and my Granddaddy is slowly losing his memory. But still, I love that place.

    It would be a tie between Baltimore, MD and Atlanta, GA. I was born and raised in Baltimore and love the city. It is home to me and is a big reason why I am the person I am today. Atlanta is where I husband grew up. He moved to GA when he was a teenager and living in the South with his aunt developed him to be the southern gentleman that I fell in love with. I hope that one day we will get the opportunity to move there and give our son the southern childhood that he got.

    I would have to say Paris is a very important city to me. I have a tween-ager’s like obsession with all things French. It started when I was in 4th grade and my sister decided to take French in school. By 6th grade, I was watching Rick Steves on PBS and planning my trip someday.

    Honestly- and I’m not kissing up! – it’s Portland, OR. I’m not a native, but I started spending summers here when I was 11, decided I had to go to college here (Lewis & Clark!), and have now lived here most of my life. I can’t tell you how excited I feel to see Mt. Hood from the plane when I am returning home from a vacation, or seeing the downtown skyline across the river as I drive in.     My husband and I met and fell in love in Paris. We lived there for 5 years together before packing up for more around the world adventures.

    It’s definitely a cross between London and NYC. I studied abroad in London and have traveled there so much that it holds lots of memories for me. NYC on the other hand, is where I met my husband, got married, bought an apartment, and started a family, so it’s pretty special to me too.

    Capri, Italy means so much to me. My husband and I kicked off our honeymoon there and loved everything about the island. I hope we get back there some day!

    I love Philadelphia – it’s where I went to college and met my boyfriend. I also lived by myself for a year in center city, and it was fantastic!

    I have had the Minneapolis print on my fav list for a while now! Love her work!

    I would say Minneapolis is my favorite city. So much to do and such great friends here 🙂 I also have a huge affection for San Francisco (and I collect prints of the city) because my husband and I honeymooned here 🙂

    Brenham, TX – where my husband proposed and we got married. Also, the best ice cream in the ENTIRE WORLD comes from here (Blue Bell!). We honeymooned in San Fran/Napa Valley, so those are also very near and dear to my heart.

    I do love Atlanta (where we live now) because it’s where my husband and I met. But my hometown of Athens, Ohio holds a special place in my heart. Not only is it where I great up, but it’s also where I went to college – it’s unlike any other place. The memories, the friends, the peacefulness….it’s always nice going home!

    I’d have to say Ann Arbor. I went to school there and my family still lives in the area and it’s just gorgeous!

    Chicago will forever be the city that holds my heart. That’s where I was born and raised and I believe, it had a huge impact on making me the woman I am today. I have lived in three cities since then and none of them compare to Chicago.

    I’m from a small city in Canada called Moose Jaw. Funny name, but everything important in my life has happened here!

    I would choose Kansas City, It is where i grew up, where my husband and I live and love on our 1.5 children(one on the way). It is also where my mom was born. The landmarks in the print all have a special place in my heart!!

    Both NYC and Boston are special to us. My husband proposed to me in NYC at the carousel in Central Park and then we honeymooned in Boston (that may sound like a weird choice, but I was smitten by Boston when I visited a few years before we met and my husband is a history buff. It was the perfect choice for us).

    Calgary means the most to me, because it’s where I grew up, got married and had all of my children before we moved away 15 years ago.

  749. Albie crossing my fingers!! Favorites are so difficult for me. I really like Flagstaff, AZ b/c my husband and I honeymooned there to visit the Grand Canyon. I like ATL b/c I was born there…and I love Savannah for it’s old world southern charm.

    New Delhi in India means the most to me as I grew up there and still have close family there. Part of my heart lives there

    The city that means most to me is Aberdeen, Scotland. I spent a year there at King’s College, a partner university of my German university. I loved Scotland and the people and Aberdeen (because it actually is a very beautiful city!), I had fun and I joined a drama group and I took Russian classes and I fell in love and I had my heart broken and I found some great friends.

    And it was there that I realised I was not cut out for the scholastic life and that I should do something completely different with my life. 🙂

They live right next to the stadium, in Eugene, and they absolutely loved the art! It’s something that can follow the boy into manhood and hopefully to his dorm at the Univerity of Oregon one day! I love Eugene and Astoria, Oregon, this town I grew up in.

    I love Fredericksburg, VA, where I went to college/met my husband/got married. We even named our daughter after a historic street downtown there! Besides that definitely Edinburgh, Scotland. I studied abroad there years ago and it captured my heart!

    We have moved a bunch, so several cities have special meanings to me. My top 3 would be where my kids were born: Washington, DC, Chicago, IL and Wilmington, DE.
